The KLAVINS workshop is a theatre for innovation. We are continually prototyping, rethinking, rebuilding, and perfecting our ideas, all in the pursuit of building the world’s best instruments.
Our prototypes are the result of years of bold experimentation, where every element is a step toward rethinking the very foundations of piano design principles.

M370
The KLAVINS M370 is an early vertical concert grand piano, built by David Klavins in 1987.
Standing 3.7 meters tall, it was the first of its kind to explore the acoustic possibilities of extended vertical design. The M370 marked a radical departure from traditional piano construction and laid the foundation for future innovations like the M470.
It remains a singular instrument in both concept and sound.

M189
The KLAVINS M189 takes the groundbreaking design principles of the Una Corda series and elevates them to a concert-grade masterpiece. Its minimalist, open-frame construction and single note-per-string concept deliver a pure, intimate sound with unmatched clarity and emotional depth. The M189 is a vision brought to life – a blend of tradition and innovation for musicians who prefer a deeper connection to their concert instrument.
